Lebanon has lodged a complaint with the United Nations Security Council regarding recent Israeli attacks that targeted journalists and media facilities in Hasbaiyya in southern Lebanon. The attacks resulted in the death of photographers and a broadcast engineer, along with the injury of several journalists and photographers. In a statement issued today, the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs mentioned that this complaint is part of the periodic complaints submitted through Lebanons permanent mission to the United Nations in New York. The ministry emphasized that Israels repeated targeting of media institutions constitutes a clear war crime, calling for Israel to be held accountable and punished. These attacks undermine the core principles of free journalism, particularly the safety of journalists and the free flow of information, and aim to intimidate and terrorize all journalists covering Israels aggression against Lebanon. Lebanon called on UN Security Council member states to take effective steps to ac hieve an immediate ceasefire and to halt the ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon and its people, including civilians, journalists, and medics. It is worth noting that this is the third time since October 2023 that media teams have been targeted by Israeli forces in southern Lebanon. Source: Qatar News Agency
