Beirut: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigrants of the Lebanese Caretaker Government, Dr. Abdallah Bou Habib, reiterated Lebanon's commitment to fully implementing the UN Security Council resolution 1701, affirming that Lebanon faces multiple military, economic, political, and social challenges. According to Qatar News Agency, Habib called for a safe return of displaced people to their villages and towns, underscoring that enduring security and peace on the southern borders of Lebanon requires ending the Israeli occupation of the Lebanese territories. He warned that the constant occupation could lead to potential conflicts in the future. He emphasized that the assault, killings, destruction, and the forced displacement of nearly a million Lebanese people make it even more compelling to request international support in overcoming the challenges facing Lebanon. Israel has been prosecuting its offensive raids in towns and villages in southern Lebanon, concomitantly with its non-stop onslaught on the Gaza S trip, which has resulted in civilian casualties and forced hundreds of families to flee their homes.
