Lebanon: Lebanon welcomed the announcement of reaching a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. In a statement today, Lebanon's Foreign Ministry stressed the need to consolidate this agreement and work to bring the necessary humanitarian aid into the Strip immediately, affirming its support for the Palestinian people in their quest to obtain their full legitimate rights, considering this agreement an important step towards alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people after the Israeli aggression on Gaza exceeded 15 months, causing an unprecedented humanitarian disaster in the Strip.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Lebanese Foreign Ministry also expressed hope that this agreement would be crowned with additional and effective international efforts to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause, on bases of the Arab Peace Initiative issued by the Beirut Summit in 2002, and the two-state solution that guarantees the security and stability of the region.
The joint mediation efforts carried out by the State of Qatar, in cooperation with Egypt and the United States, succeeded in reaching an agreement between the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Israel to cease fire in the Gaza Strip and exchange prisoners and detainees. The deal will come into effect next Sunday.
