Libya: High Council of State President, UN Official Discuss Political Process Developments

President of Libya's High Council of State Mohamed Takala discussed Tuesday with Mission Coordinator of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Raisedon Zenenga, the developments of the political process in the country, the results of the work of the 6 + 6 Joint Committee for Preparing Electoral Laws and the efforts made by the Council to achieve permanent stability in Libya.

Zenenga expressed his aspiration to continue cooperation with the High Council of State in order to conduct elections.

The Libyan House of Representatives had approved the road map emanating from the 6 + 6 Committee to prepare electoral laws in the country.

Libya's presidential and legislative elections were set to be conducted in Dec. 2021, but they were postponed indefinitely over disputes among the political parties.
