Libyan House of Representatives approved Thursday an emergency budget of 10 billion Libyan dinars (USD 2 billion) in a bid to mitigate the devastation resulting from Storm Daniel.
The unanimously approved motion also includes the formation of a committee to monitor the disbursement of allocations and local and interbational aid in agreement with the Central Bank of Libya, Spokesperson for the House of Representatives Abdullah Bliheg said. Bliheg added that a committee had been assigned to follow up on the work of the competent authorities at this stage, calling on the Attorney General to investigate whether the disaster was caused by any negligence.
The House will summon the government next week for a hearing over measures taken to face the disaster, and assign the emergency medical teams to manage the medical crisis in the affected areas under the supervision and follow-up of the House's Health Committee.
