Liwan: Liwan Studios and Design Labs has announced its first open day event of 2025, scheduled for next Monday. The event will feature a wide range of activities, including exhibitions, workshops, and live entertainment.
According to Qatar News Agency, this open day will offer creatives a chance to meet, explore design projects, and engage with other members of the creative community. Highlights include the exhibition “We Are Our Choices” by artist and fashion designer Nafisa Hafez, along with a film screening and a panel discussion with the artist.
The event will also offer various workshops led by Liwan members and residents, covering topics such as graphic design using “Spero,” clay sculpting in Liwan backyard, and how to smoke-fire clay. Additionally, there will be a workshop on ink titled “The Chemistry of Inks and Dyes.” Fashion designer Ikhlas Hassan will showcase her collection of headscarves, headbands, bows, and abayas, while calligrapher Karim Jabbari will display his collaborative multimedia artworks throughout the day.
Two new public art installations will be unveiled as part of the Temporary Public Art Works initiative. Student artist Natasha Fernandez will present her latest installation, Store – Away, while student artist Zein Al Jabri will showcase her piece, Embroidering Identity: Reviving Arab Patterns.
Visitors will have the chance to explore the studios, interact with Liwan members and resident artists, and learn about the creative processes behind the diverse design works, all while enjoying a live music performance.
