Doha: Lusail University (LU) celebrated on Wednesday the graduation of its 1st batch of students, totaling 298 male and female students, in a ceremony held at the Qatar National Convention Centre. The graduation ceremony was attended by HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, HE Minister of Labor Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri, HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi, HE Chairman of LU's Board of Trustees Dr. Ali bin Fetais Al Marri, along with Board of Trustees, in addition to a lineup of Their Excellencies and senior state officials. On the occasion, President of LU Prof. Nitham Hindi commended the graduates' proven creativity, and ability to succeed and face challenges. Hindi added that since its establishment, LU has been determined to achieve its pioneering vision and provide quality-education that keeps pace with the needs of current times and those of the job market. The President of LU referred to LU's st rategic plan (2021-2025) and said that thus far, 33 out of 37 initiatives have been implemented, in addition to a wide range of research outputs, with LU faculty publishing 265 research papers. Hindi stressed the need to solidify LU's standing locally and internationally, and took the opportunity to praising the efforts of LU's faculty and staff, along with students' parents and guardians in that regard. In turn, Vice President for Student Affairs at LU Fatma Mansour Al Mesleh expressed her happiness at seeing the graduates move steadily towards their promising professional future, adding that it was a journey filled with aspirations and challenges, yet faced with determination, perseverance, and overcoming obstacles. Al Mesleh stressed LU's keenness to provide students with an exceptional experience and quality education. She added that the university paid special attention to student activities with the goal of supporting the students' personality development, refining their skills, and preparing them fo r professional life. In appreciation of their academic achievements, HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi honored the outstanding graduates, who numbered 55. During the ceremony a number of entities were honored in recognition of their significant efforts and continuous support, and these are: Qatar Fund For Development, Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), Ministry of Interior, Qatar International Islamic Bank, the Department of Zakat Affairs, and Qatar Charity. The event included a certificate handing ceremony for the graduates of the College of Education and Arts, the College of Commerce and Business, and the College of Law, in addition to the graduates of Sorbonne University - Doha, with the participation of the prestigious French university's officials. Upon the end of the ceremony, the launch of the LU Alumni association was announced, to support the graduates in their professional careers. LU's first batch of graduates consisted of the graduates of three colleges totaling 298 students, of whom 193 are female whereas 105 are male. The College of Education and Arts graduated 41 students (38 females and 3 males), the College of Commerce and Business, 107, (72 females and 35 males), and the College of Law with 150 graduates (84 females and 66 males).
