Magnitude 6.2 Quake Hits Japan’s Hokkaido

A magnitude 6.2 earthquake hit Hokkaido, northern Japan, on Sunday.

According to Japan's Meteorological Agency, the focus was 140 kilometers deep, off the coast of Urakawa Town.

Authorities said there was no threat of tsunami.

The Hokkaido Electric Power Company said there were no reports of problems at the nuclear plants in the area.
