Minister of Local Administration and Environment Eng. Hussein Makhlouf discussed with Iranian Ambassador in Damascus Hossein Akbari fields of cooperation between the two countries and means of developing them in all domains, particularly in protecting the environment and firefighting sector.
Eng. Makhlouf stressed the importance of the relations of friendship and fraternity bounding the two countries and peoples, hailing Iran’s permanent standing by Syria and offering all forms of support in fighting terrorism and the response processes to the disaster of the earthquake that struck the country last February.
He pointed out to the continued coordination and expanding cooperation in the firefighting field.
He referred to the importance of coordination with the Iranian side, particularly following the signing of the memo of understanding in the environment domain, indicating to the importance of holding the international conference on combating sand and dust storms scheduled in Iran next month.
For his part, Akbari pointed out to continue joint work and coordination efforts to create an appropriate environment to develop and push forward the bilateral relations of cooperation, particularly in the environment field.
He highlighted the importance of the international conference on combating sand and dust storms scheduled in Iran next month with participation of Syria as an opportunity to discuss the environmental issues and efforts to ease the negative effects of the climate changes.
