Gaza - Ma'an - Minister Riyad Mansour, the Permanent Observer of the State of Palestine to the United Nations, said that Israel commits crimes in front of the world, openly and repeatedly, and makes hardly any effort to cover up its crimes, and its military personnel do not hesitate to share recordings of those crimes with the rest of the world. In his speech to the Security Council, which met on Wednesday to discuss the situation in the Middle East, including the question of Palestine, he said: "What is happening in Gaza will be recorded as the most documented genocide in history." Minister Riyad Mansour pointed out that the people of Gaza do not need to hear the world talk about uprooted trees, but rather they need their shade to protect them from the scorching heat. He asked: "How cruel can you be, and how criminal do you have to be, to bomb the same population over and over again?" He also wondered whether the world will condemn those crimes and stop tolerating their recurrence. Dr. Riyad stressed that we have seen Israel for months commit a crime that amounts to a humanitarian catastrophe, causing famine, and in addition, using famine, drought and the spread of diseases as weapons in this war. The Palestinian Ambassador informed the permanent members of the Security Council and the members participating in the session that two million people who have been subjected to a 17-year blockade are now facing a tight siege, dying of hunger and disease while food and medicine are available only meters away. Minister Riyad Mansour stressed that the Security Council adopted Resolution 2735 to achieve an immediate ceasefire leading to a permanent cessation of hostilities, and although this will not restore life to those who have been killed or limbs to those who have been amputated, it will save lives and stop the ongoing suffering. He stressed that there is a global consensus to support the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the two-state solution in line with UN resolutions and internationa l law. In two days, the highest judicial body on earth will issue its official opinion on the question of Palestine and the illegality of the Israeli occupation, and this expression of law should be the basis for our collective action in the coming days. Addressing the member states, Dr. Riyad Mansour said: 'Just as all your peoples have refused to give up their rights, the Palestinian people will never accept giving up their rights. Peace will not be achieved at the expense of our rights, but by upholding them. The right to life, freedom and dignity. This is the only path to peace. Let us finally embark on this collectively.' He called on them to support and strengthen those who seek peace instead of arming those who seek annihilation. Source: Maan News Agency
