Doha: The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) celebrated the graduation of the first cohort of the 'Adopt Microsoft Copilot' program for government entities during a ceremony honoring the entities that successfully completed the first phase.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Ministry announced the expansion of the second phase of the program to include 17 governmental and semi-governmental entities. This expansion is the result of close cooperation between the Ministry of Communications and Microsoft, within the framework of a national initiative to promote the adoption of generative artificial intelligence and its application in improving the efficiency of government work.
The first phase of the program achieved remarkable results, with a 62% adoption rate among the targeted users. More than 9,000 active users registered their daily use of Copilot tools, and 1.7 million tasks were executed through the platform. This contributed to saving over 240,000 working hours, thanks to the automation of repetitive tasks and the acceleration of process completion.
The entities that successfully completed the first phase included the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, the Ministry of Transport, the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau, Hamad Medical Corporation, the Primary Health Care Corporation, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA), and Sidra Medicine.
Participating entities benefited from Copilot's capabilities in accelerating administrative work and enhancing decision-making quality. The platform facilitated document summarization, official correspondence drafting, data analysis, and meeting management, transforming the outputs into clear task lists. It also generated accurate technical reports that support decision-making across various departments. This usage contributed to increased workflow efficiency and reduced the time required to complete daily tasks.
In the healthcare sector, Copilot Agent enabled medical and healthcare institutions to integrate smart technologies into clinical and administrative workflows, including the preparation of project plans, schedules, and resource plans in a faster and more flexible manner.
These tools have contributed to improving the patient experience by reducing the effort required for routine tasks and freeing up more time for medical staff to focus on providing care, thus enhancing the quality of healthcare services and accelerating the achievement of better outcomes.
At the ceremony, Assistant Undersecretary for Infrastructure and Operations Affairs at MCIT, Sami Mohammed Al Shammari, stated that the program represents a key milestone in the national digital transformation journey.
He added that the government entities that successfully completed the first phase of the Adopt Microsoft Copilot program have demonstrated their readiness to adopt advanced technologies and effectively integrate artificial intelligence tools into their work environment.
Al Shammari noted that the Ministry launched this program with a strategic vision aligned with the goals of the Digital Agenda 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy, aiming to build a future-ready workforce capable of leveraging modern technologies to enhance the quality and efficiency of government services.
The ceremony witnessed the announcement of the launch of the second phase of the program under the umbrella of the Qatar Digital Academy, with the provision of advanced training programs that enable employees to develop their digital skills and promote a culture of effective and responsible use of artificial intelligence tools. The next phase focuses on developing specialized training content, raising the operational readiness of participating entities, and continuing to measure the impact according to clear indicators related to productivity and the quality of government services.
