MCIT Celebrates Graduation of Second Cohort of TASMU Accelerator

Doha: The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) organized the second Demo Day of the TASMU Accelerator and recognized startups that developed innovative digital solutions, in pursuit of contributing to accelerating Qatar's digital transformation.

According to Qatar News Agency, during the Demo Day, four startups were awarded financial prizes of QR 200,000 each in recognition of their excellence in providing innovative digital solutions, to support the expansion of their business operations and the development of their projects in alignment with local market needs. Additionally, three honorary awards were presented to startups that demonstrated exceptional performance in innovation, entrepreneurship, and social impact.

Assistant Undersecretary for Digital Industry Affairs at MCIT, Reem Al Mansoori, emphasized that the TASMU Accelerator aligns with the Ministry's vision to build a comprehensive digital ecosystem that drives digital innovation and supports startups in achieving sustainable growth. She noted that the second cohort of startups in the accelerator collectively generated sales exceeding QR 72 million, with potential future opportunities estimated at QR 137 million. Furthermore, these startups secured QR 18 million in investments, including QR 4 million from local investors, demonstrating the accelerator's positive impact in empowering digital entrepreneurs and enhancing their contributions to the national economy.

The second cohort of the accelerator included 25 startups from 14 countries, selected based on their ability to deliver impactful technological solutions. Over a six-month intensive acceleration program, these startups received tailored mentorship and support to refine their business models and enhance their readiness for expansion within Qatar and beyond. The cohort benefitted from the expertise of over 200 strategic partners, mentors, and investors, equipping them with essential resources such as access to funding, advanced digital tools, and expert guidance while maintaining their business independence. This initiative strengthens Qatar's digital ecosystem and contributes to achieving the Digital Agenda 2030 and Qatar National Vision 2030.

Since its inception, the TASMU Accelerator has supported 50 startups from 29 countries, delivering over 2,000 hours of mentorship and 270 hours of training. Additionally, each startup received in-kind support worth QR 1.8 million and financial support valued at QR 1.4 million. Collectively, these startups have secured QR 228 million in investments and generated QR 479 million in total sales, underscoring the accelerator's role in fostering innovation and building a thriving digital ecosystem in Qatar.
