Doha: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Qatar National Library to strengthen cooperation in environmental knowledge-sharing and public awareness. The agreement was signed by HE Eng. Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Al Mahmoud, Undersecretary of the Ministry, and Tan Huism, Executive Director of the Library, in the presence of officials from both sides.
According to Qatar News Agency, the MoU aims to support joint initiatives, public outreach events, and collaborative content development in environmental and climate-related topics. It also includes sharing educational resources, offering ministry staff access to environmental references in multiple languages, and organizing training workshops.
The agreement further covers technical cooperation in digitizing and preserving environmental documents, with the library granted access to surplus publications from the ministry. Speaking at the signing, Al Mahmoud emphasized that the partnership reflects Qatar's commitment to sustainability and to enhancing environmental research in support of Qatar National Vision 2030.
Al Mahmoud noted that the signing comes amid intense local and global environmental challenges, underscoring Qatar's firm commitment to promoting environmental awareness and advancing sustainable development. He stressed that knowledge and expertise exchange would be a central pillar of the partnership with Qatar National Library, helping to build research capacity and foster innovation in the environmental field.
He added that the agreement will be activated through a series of practical initiatives, including specialized events and workshops, technical consultations on document restoration and digitization, and the exchange of scientific publications. The collaboration, he said, will enhance the skills of ministry staff and promote a knowledge-driven work culture, ultimately supporting environmental protection efforts and broader societal development.
