The sources revealed that President Assad's visit could be described as a surprise, but it was a very practical visit, indicating that the subject of a possible meeting between President Assad and his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, was not discussed, and President Putin did not ask President Assad to meet with Erdogan. Russian President is fully informed in advance, through his special Envoy Alexander Lavrentiev, about President Assad's stance regarding the relations with Turkey, which must be based on foundations and re ferences regarding the Turkish withdrawal from Syrian territory, as well as regarding the fight against all terrorist organizations in northern Syria, the sources said.
