Doha: The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA), in collaboration with Dreama Orphan Care Center, wrapped up its inspiring event entitled: Ceramics and Heritage: From the Aesthetics of Islamic Art to Contemporary Creativity.
According to Qatar News Agency, throughout the event, children were introduced to the art of porcelain painting, where they had the opportunity to apply traditional Islamic motifs to ceramic and porcelain pieces, enhancing their creative skills.
The experience was further enriched by an interactive "treasure hunt" within the Museum's galleries, enabling the children to explore the exhibits in a fun and engaging way.
Shaika Nasser Al Nassr, Director of the Museum of Islamic Art, commented: "We're honoured to have joined hands with Dreama Orphan Care Center to offer the young generation a unique opportunity to develop their artistic skills, while learning about our shared Islamic heritage. By engaging children in an educational hands-on session, we provide them with the opportunity to not only sharpen their creativity, but to also gain a deeper appreciation for the cultural legacy that surrounds them. We hope this initiative has sparked in them a sense of curiosity and a connection with our Islamic history in a meaningful and inspiring way."
Sheikha Najla bint Ahmed Al-Thani, Executive Director of Dreama Orphan Care Center, stated: "The importance of this event for Dreama and its collaboration with MIA in developing the skills and talents of Dreama's children reaffirms the continuity of this partnership. I also take this opportunity to express my gratitude and appreciation to MIA for its support, as well as to artist Maria Al Badr for her collaboration with Dreama in guiding the children to create Islamic artistic patterns and motifs. My heartfelt appreciation goes to all those involved in organising the programme."
