Czeslaw Michniewicz is the new coach of Poland as successor to Paulo Sousa, the national federation said Monday. The 52-year-old Michniewicz has been given a contract to the end of the year with the option of an extension. Poland failed to qualify automatically for the World Cup in Qatar and visit Russia in a play-off semi-final in March. Sousa surprisingly departed from the Polish job late December to coach Brazilian side Flamengo. Michniewicz most recently coach Legia Warsaw, winning the domestic title in 2021, and was Poland’s under-21 boss 2017-2020.
