Microsoft has announced a delay in the rollout of its recall feature, an AI-driven tool designed to track computer usage. The decision comes amidst privacy concerns and will involve a preview phase within its Windows Insider Program (WIP) before wider release. In a statement on Friday, Microsoft has decided to postpone the release of its Recall feature. Initially intended to be released with Copilot+ PC users on Jun. 18, Recall will now undergo additional scrutiny to ensure a trusted and secure experience for customers. The Recall feature is designed to track various activities on a computer, ranging from web browsing to voice chats. It creates a detailed history of these activities, storing them locally on the computer. Recall will now shift from a preview experience broadly available for Copilot+ PCs on Jun. 18, 2024, to a preview available first in the Windows Insider Program (WIP) in the coming weeks.
