Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati discussed the developments in Lebanon with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. According to a statement from the Lebanese presidency today, Mikati emphasized to Blinken during their meeting in London the importance of prioritizing a ceasefire in Lebanon, especially given that the Israeli aggression has displaced 1.4 million Lebanese people. Mikati also reaffirmed Lebanon's commitment to implementing U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701 as it stands, without amendments. For his part, the U.S. Secretary of State stated that Washington is still pursuing a diplomatic solution and a swift ceasefire in Lebanon, while also confirming the commitment of all parties to international resolutions that guarantee regional stability. Blinken expressed his country's support for Lebanon's government institutions, particularly the army and security forces, stressing the importance of the Lebanese armys role in implementing Resolution 1701.
