Minister Highlights Qatar’s Commitment to Equality and Empowerment Through Hosting World Summit

Doha: HE Minister of Social Development and Family Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi affirmed that the State of Qatar's hosting of the Second World Summit for Social Development 2025 represents an extension of the country's approach to supporting international efforts to promote the values of equality and empowerment, and embodies HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's vision which places the human being at the heart of the development process as both its ultimate goal and central focus.

According to Qatar News Agency, Her Excellency said that hosting such event marks an important historical milestone for strengthening international cooperation and reviewing progress made in implementing the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, contributing to addressing current social and economic challenges, especially those faced by the least developed countries in their efforts to eradicate poverty and achieve social justice.

HE added that the Summit, to be held at Qatar National Convention Centre from Nov. 4 to 6, comes three decades after the first edition was convened in Copenhagen, Denmark, to renew the international community's commitment to realizing social justice and comprehensive and sustainable development.

Her Excellency, in a related context, emphasized that the State of Qatar believes in its humanitarian role and its responsibility as an active partner in formulating innovative development solutions and building more inclusive and equitable societies through empowering families, enhancing social protection, and caring for the most vulnerable groups based on the principle of "From Care to Empowerment."

Her Excellency also expressed her confidence that the Summit's deliberations and the anticipated "Doha Declaration" will help open new horizons for multilateral cooperation and reinforce a fairer and more humane world that upholds human dignity everywhere.

The Second World Summit for Social Development aims, among other goals, to provide an international platform for exchanging experiences and expertise among countries and international and regional organizations, and to coordinate efforts aimed at achieving the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Summit will focus on key issues such as poverty reduction, empowerment of women and youth, strengthening social protection systems, supporting rural communities, and building the capacities of individuals and institutions toward more inclusive and sustainable development.
