HE Eng. Abdullah Alswaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia visited, Al Bayt Stadium, one of the stadiums of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, located in Al Khor city, which will host the opening match of the tournament.
The Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology was accompanied during the visit by HE Mr. Mohammed bin Ali bin Mohammed Al Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology in the State of Qatar, HH Prince Mansour bin Khalid bin Abdullah Al Farhan Al Saud, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a number of officials in the ministries of the two countries, and officials from the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, as well as Ooredoo Group.
Eng. Yasir Abdullah Al Jammal, General Director of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, presented an introductory brief on the phases of the construction of Al Bayt Stadium and modern facilities it provides for guests and fans, as well as its reliance on sustainability standards.
HE Mr. Mohammed bin Ali bin Mohammed Al Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, welcomed his counterpart of Saudi Arabia for visiting the State of Qatar, and hosted him at Al Bayt Stadium, which will witness the start of the FIFA World Cup 2022.
HE the Minister said: “The visit of the Saudi delegation led by HE the Minister of Communications and Information Technology is the culmination of the close brotherly ties that unite the two countries and ensure the fruitful cooperation between the ministries of communications in Qatar and Saudi Arabia.” He added: “We want to enhance this cooperation in all sectors we are working on, in addition to exchanging successful expertise of both countries in the digital transformation field and harnessing technology to serve our citizens and national institutions. Undoubtedly, the Saudi delegation’s visit will open great prospects for future cooperation.”
HE and the accompanying delegation were also introduced to the modern technologies used in Al Bayt Stadium and the CIT infrastructure it encompasses, especially in terms of broadcasting and communication technologies.
HE Eng. Abdullah Alswaha said: “We are proud of the presence of all these modern facilities and stadiums, including Al Bayt Stadium. The hosting of the World Cup by Qatar is a source of pride for the Gulf region and all Arab countries, and we look forward to an exceptional tournament. I am fully confident that Qatar will present an amazing World Cup.”
In this context, HE Eng. Abdullah Alswaha was introduced to Qatar’s Smart Program “Tasmu”, which is one of the initiatives in line with the vision of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in Qatar. It aims at transforming the State of Qatar into a world-class smart country, enjoying the latest smart solutions that will raise its standard of living and boost its competitiveness internationally.
This introduction came in a presentation given by HE Reem Al Mansoori, Assistant Undersecretary for Digital Society Development at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in the State of Qatar.
HE Eng. Abdullah Alswaha was also briefed on a number of smart digital solutions used in the World Cup that are among the achievements of “Tasmu” Program, including the crowd management and transportation system, which improves operational efficiency in the transportation sector in Qatar, and works on enhancing the user experience by improving crowd mobility and transportation, as a result of integrating the data of more than 20 entities working in the transportation and public transport field in a unified command center supported by “Tasmu Central Platform” with advanced technical services such as the digital twin and smart data analysis to be connected to new advanced smart solutions, which makes it the cornerstone of a smart, dynamic transportation sector.
Ooredoo Group also gave a presentation on the communication technologies and services used from its side, on the occasion of the World Cup tournament, in addition to the means of support it provides for the crowd management system and other services aimed at achieving the highest quality level of communications during the tournament.
HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, Chief Executive Officer of Ooredoo Qatar company, reviewed the most prominent and state-of-the-art developed technologies provided by the company to ensure the delivery of speedy and highly accurate communications and internet services during the world cup tournament, as well as the package of technological and digital support techniques.
