HE Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani, Minister of Culture, inaugurated yesterday at Qatar University the largest painting on canvas in the world, completed by the artist Imad Salehi, in the presence of several dignitaries and a representative of Guinness World Records Foundation. The creative artist's work was crowned by its entry into Guinness World Record, becoming the largest painting in the world with an area of 9,652 square meters.
The painting tells a ball story and restores the historical memory of the game, explaining the nature of the balls used, the host countries of the tournament, the World Cup winners, and the best football players and scorers in all World Cup editions.
On this occasion, HE Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani, Minister of Culture, said that the Ministry of Culture spares no effort to highlight the works of creators and owners of creative initiatives or to support distinguished artworks. This painting is an embodiment and historicization of the tremendous global event taking place in Qatar.
