Doha: HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater emphasized the central role of human beings in any genuine knowledge renaissance, highlighting the importance of human values as a compass in guiding progress amid rapidly advancing technologies. Her remarks were made during the opening of the 12th World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE), attended by notable figures including HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser and HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al-Thani, among others.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Lolwah Al Khater articulated that WISE emerged from an Arab vision with a universal human outlook, crafted by HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, aiming to position education as an investment in human potential. She highlighted the summit as a global platform that redefines the learner's role from a passive recipient to an active participant in shaping the future.
HE the Minister discussed the technological acceleration in today's world, asserting that these advancements are extensions of humanity's pursuit of understanding. She stressed that amid these transformations, human values are essential in guiding development, emphasizing that human history is a narrative of evolving consciousness rather than changing machines.
The summit's theme, "Humanity First: Human Values at the Heart of Education Systems," underscores the necessity of human values as the foundation of any intellectual or technological renaissance. HE Al Khater highlighted Qatar's educational journey as part of a broader human narrative, emphasizing the importance of values in building the future.
She referenced Qatar's pioneering educational projects and the establishment of the Ministry of Education as early recognition of the human being as the nation's foundation. She noted that under HH the Father Amir's leadership, education became a pillar of national advancement, and this vision continues under HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.
HE Al Khater also pointed to the National Day slogan, reflecting confidence in future generations over natural resources. She discussed the Education Strategy 2024-2030, focusing on equitable education, a secure digital ecosystem, and empowering learners as active agents.
Concluding her remarks, HE Lolwah Al Khater emphasized the importance of placing the human being at the core of national vision and decision-making, viewing global transformations as opportunities for growth.
