Minister of Endowments Launches “Awqaf Index” Website

Doha: The Minister of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, represented by HE Undersecretary of the Ministry, Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al-Thani, launched today the "Awqaf Index" platform, which is considered the largest specialized database in the field of endowments.

According to Qatar News Agency, the launch of "Awqaf Index" aligns with the Ministry's commitment to embracing information technology and enhancing its capabilities to the highest standards. Head of Endowment Studies Center at the General Administration of Awqaf, Dr. Khalid Abdullah Al Awn, explained that the launch represents a step toward documenting and disseminating knowledge related to endowments, reflecting the Ministry's commitment to strengthening the role of waqf as a pillar in community and cultural development.

Dr. Al Awn added that the site will provide researchers and interested individuals with a source for accessing precise and comprehensive information, contributing to enriching studies and research in this field. He urged researchers and those interested to explore available content and benefit from the database provided by the site to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the role of waqf in Islamic history and contemporary society.

He emphasized the importance of keeping up with developments in information technology and artificial intelligence. The site aims to provide comprehensive and reliable information on endowments, including manuscripts, publications, laws, and studies, contributing to raising cultural and historical awareness of the significance of waqf in the Islamic community.

The site includes a database of over 8,200 scientific data, manuscripts, and publications, which include 193 manuscript titles, 90 titles on law and regulation, 3,857 articles, 403 research papers, 1,679 books and publications, 1,394 classification topics, and 653 academic theses. This diversity enables researchers and individuals to access sources that contribute to enriching their studies and research on endowments.

The site also features a user-friendly interface that allows visitors to navigate between different sections and access the information they need quickly and efficiently. It also offers advanced search capabilities, making it easier to locate specific sources and references.

The Minister of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs previously announced its plan to launch "Awqaf Index" as part of its efforts to raise awareness about the importance and breadth of waqf research. The platform was developed by expert professionals to ensure it offers an accurate and trustworthy database that meets the needs of researchers and interested individuals.
