Damascus, The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, discussed with Muriel Mafico, the representative of UN Population Fund (UNFPA)in Syria, and the accompanying delegation, mechanisms for joint cooperation in the scientific field. Ibrahim noted the support of UNFPA and its standing by Syria in the war and the Western economic siege imposed on it, pointing to the efforts made by the Fund to support educational hospitals and provide them with medical equipment, especially al-Baath University Hospital, which it equipped with a special maternity ward, by providing incubators and beds care. In turn, the representative of UNFPA stressed that the Fund would continue to provide support in all fields, to achieve national development goals in the field of population, development and health care, noting the importance of the research that was supported by the Ministry and the Fund, related to sociology and issues that society suffers from.
