Minister of State for Energy Affairs: Qatarization is Key Strategic Goal for Energy Sector

Doha: HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of QatarEnergy Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi affirmed that Qatarization continues to remain a key strategic objective for Qatar's energy sector, and praised the sector's efforts to fulfill its commitments.

According to Qatar News Agency, this affirmation was made during His Excellency's presidency of the Energy Sector's 25th annual Qatarization Review meeting, which was attended by senior executives and representatives from the companies participating in the Energy Sector Strategic Qatarization Plan. The Minister highlighted how Qatarization has evolved over the years, transforming from a mere policy into a significant force driving achievements within the sector.

His Excellency commended the ongoing efforts to enhance Strategic Workforce and Qatarization Planning processes, ensuring alignment with each organization's vision and corporate objectives. He also provided an overview of strategic projects and investments across the energy value chain, emphasizing the need for a developed workforce to maximize returns on these investments.

The Minister stressed the importance of Qatarization as a crucial element of growth plans, ensuring a steady flow of national talent capable of leading companies now and in the future. He reiterated the unwavering commitment to providing young Qataris with opportunities to build rewarding careers and develop national competencies across various fields.

During the event, His Excellency presented the Annual Qatarization Crystal Awards, recognizing companies for their achievements in four categories. This year's awardees were Qatar Aluminium Limited (Qatalum) for "Support and Liaison with the Education Sector," Qatar Chemical Company Ltd. (Q-Chem) for "Supporting Qatarization," North Oil Company (NOC) for "Support for Learning and Development," and Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) for "Best Qatarization Progress."

Additionally, the Annual Qatarization Certificates were awarded to companies showing significant improvements since the previous calendar year in three categories. The recipients were Oryx GTL for "Support and Liaison with the Education Sector," Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO) for "Supporting Qatarization," and Gulf Drilling International (GDI) for "Support for Learning and Development."
