Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs Highlights Private Sector’s Role in Qatar-Azerbaijan Economic Relations

Doha: HE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed emphasized the vital role of the private sector in building and developing economic relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Azerbaijan. This statement was delivered during the Qatar-Azerbaijan Joint Business Council meeting, which took place on Monday with participation from senior officials and representatives of both countries' public and private sectors.

According to Qatar News Agency, His Excellency noted that the meeting underscores the commitment of both nations to foster direct communication between Qatari and Azerbaijani business leaders. This initiative is aimed at exploring new avenues for trade and investment cooperation. The Minister highlighted the remarkable growth of economic relations between the two countries over recent years, attributing this progress to several significant agreements. These agreements, including those on economic, trade, and technical cooperation, mutual investment promotion and protection, and the avoidance of double taxation, are seen as foundational to expanding bilateral cooperation.

HE Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed further stressed the importance of these agreements in facilitating business development and creating an attractive environment for investors. He expressed Qatar's aspirations to elevate economic relations with Azerbaijan to more strategic levels and to diversify investment areas that serve the mutual interests of both nations.

Both countries reaffirmed the significance of the Business Council as a vital platform for enhancing communication between their business communities. The Council plays a crucial role in supporting efforts to broaden economic and investment cooperation. During the meeting, discussions centered around the cooperation opportunities available between the Qatari and Azerbaijani business sectors in various economic fields, as well as a review of the investment climate and opportunities for collaboration between companies from both sides.
