Doha: HE the Minister of Youth and Sports of Nepal Biraj Bhakta Shrestha emphasized the significance of the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Kathmandu, noting his country's eagerness for broader cooperation with Qatar in the fields of youth and sports, strengthening the growing relations between the two countries and opening channels of communication between the people in both countries. In a statement to Qatar News Agency , His Excellency said that the visit of HH the Amir to Nepal will enhance Nepal's keenness to launch broader cooperation in the field of sports and youth, especially since Qatar has a pioneering and extensive experience spanning decades in youth development and sports sector, making it a global example to be followed. He added that Nepal, both the government and the people, are enthusiastic about this historic visit of HH the Amir, noting that the visit that will enhance areas of cooperation and partnership in many fields, including youth and sports, in addition to highlighting the country of Nepal and expanding communication channels with the Gulf region specifically. He pointed out that the relations between Qatar and Nepal have extended for over four decades and witnessed significant development, stressing that they see that the time has come to open cooperation between the two countries in the field of youth and sports to enhance people-to-people interaction between the two nations. The Minister of Youth and Sports of Nepal praised Qatar's achievements in the sports infrastructure and youth development, which resulted in global accomplishments in the sports field, including hosting international sports events and winning championships. In this context, he highlighted Qatar's hosting, organization, and excellent security measures for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. He said that Qatar has proven to the global sports community and the international community in general that it is capable of successfully organizing major international sports tournaments. Regarding th e development of the sports and youth sector, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha affirmed that plans for the development of this sector are among his country's priorities at the present stage, especially considering the youth interest in sports of various kinds. He added that the youth in Nepal are mentally prepared and determined today to develop their athletic talents and abilities, which will enable Nepal to achieve its aspirations in the sports field. His Excellency pointed out that there are some challenges facing the states plans in the youth and sports sector, which requires cooperation with the State of Qatar to overcome these challenges by benefiting from its accumulated expertise and experience in these two sectors. He added that youth in Nepal need push and encouragement to enable them to develop themselves and build their capabilities to achieve their ambitions, in addition to supporting the sports infrastructure and local sports such as cricket and football. He stressed that youth are the national capital a nd that building their sports skills and abilities would support the countrys development efforts, which would enhance economic growth in light of the role that the sports sector has begun to play in global economies, including Gulf economies. He added that they would very much like to benefit from Qatar's experience in the sports field in terms of infrastructure, training, sports academic sciences, and the related youth-centered development culture. HE the Minister of Youth and Sports of Nepal stressed that his country possesses a lot of natural and human potential, and the State of Qatar can benefit from this potential through investment projects. He said that they have youth wealth in addition to the natural and tourism wealth that Qatari investors can benefit from to serve the joint development goals of the two countries. He added that they would like to engage in an in-depth discussions on these issues, and there are efforts currently being made to complete and sign a MoU in the field of youth and spo rts with the aim of framing cooperation between the two countries in this field.
