Umm Salal: The Ministry of Culture on Monday held a seminar titled "Art Residency: Painting Making and Artist Formation" as part of the Freej Art and Design Festival. This event marks the beginning of the new cultural season's activities at Darb Al Saai in Umm Salal, which will continue through November 6. According to Qatar News Agency, the seminar concentrated on the art residency program managed by Qatar Museums, underscoring its importance in promoting visual arts and nurturing Qatari talent. Abdulrahman Abdullah Al Dulaimi, Director of the Culture and Arts Department at the Ministry of Culture, highlighted the Ministry's dedication to advancing the visual arts sector. He described the Freej Art and Design Festival as a lively platform that unites artists from various disciplines, providing them a venue to display their works and interact with Qatar's artistic environment. Al Dulaimi further mentioned that the festival's impact extends beyond artistic exhibitions, incorporating symposia that examine the roots and development of contemporary art in Qatar. The festival also features experimental elements and offers workshops for both adults and children who are new to the art world, aiming to develop and enhance their artistic skills. The Freej Art and Design Festival presents a broad spectrum of artistic forms for all age groups. The Qatari House pavilion exhibits Qatari heritage and culture, showcasing artworks that reflect the essence of Qatari identity. The Gallery space hosts a comprehensive collection of paintings from various participating artists, while Freej Al-Jex comprises eight distinct sections dedicated to digital arts and various artistic expressions. This section unites artists to showcase aspects of Qatari culture and both modern and traditional artifacts. Set to conclude on Wednesday, the Freej Art and Design Festival is a vibrant celebration of art and creativity, featuring participation from 19 organizations and over 100 local and international artists and designers. This variety of artis tic methods enriches Qatar's cultural and artistic landscape.
