Asuncion: The Ministry of Culture announced that it has successfully secured the inscription of the Henna file, backed by Arab nations, on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This achievement was confirmed during the 19th session of the intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, which is taking place in Asuncion, Paraguay, and will continue until December 7. According to Qatar News Agency, the recognition is the culmination of collaborative efforts by 16 Arab countries, emphasizing the cultural significance and widespread use of Henna across these nations. In its announcement, UNESCO described Henna as "a deciduous tree that grows in hot regions and is perceived as sacred by communities in Northern Africa and the Middle East." The organization highlighted Henna's role as a source of adornment and joy for women, deeply intertwined with centuries-old societal traditions in these regions.
