Doha: HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al-Thani honored the employees of the Darul Ifta of the Jamiatul Ulama South Africa (Council of Muslim Theologians).
According to Qatar News Agency, this recognition came at the conclusion of a month-long Arabic Language intensive course offered by the Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center (Bin Zaid) - a Ministry of Endowments affiliate - to 15 employees from the Darul Ifta of the Jamiatul Ulama South Africa. During the ceremony, General Manager of the center Dr. Saleh bin Ali Al Akhn Al Marri highlighted that the course is part of Qatar's efforts to enhance cooperation with religious institutions and strengthen cultural ties among Islamic nations, aligning with its religious and educational vision.
By completing 115 training hours, participants improved their Arabic language skills, facilitating their access to Islamic knowledge from authentic sources, Dr. Al Marri stated. He emphasized the center's commitment to promoting the Arabic language among Muslim communities globally, in line with the Ministry of Endowments' mission of spreading tolerance and cultural communication.
During the graduation ceremony in Doha, HE Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to Qatar Ghulam Hoosein Asmal praised Qatar's support for Jamiatul Ulama South Africa students and employees, noting that the event signifies the strong fraternal ties between the two countries. He also mentioned that the program provided religious knowledge while fostering brotherhood and tolerance.
Course coordinator at Jamiatul Ulama South Africa Zakariya Suleiman Pandora expressed gratitude to Qatar for nurturing the Arabic language and enhancing communication among Muslim communities worldwide. He noted that the course included learning Arabic, meetings with prominent scholars, and tours of Islamic and cultural landmarks in Qatar, enriching participants' connection with Arab and Islamic cultures.
Head of the Islamic culture department at Bin Zaid Dr. Ahmed Abdul Rahim Al Tahan remarked that this course demonstrates Qatar's dedication to supporting the Arabic language and spreading it among Muslim communities. He mentioned that this initiative by Bin Zaid is also carried out in countries like Russia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, aiming to promote the Arabic language and strengthen Islamic identity.
