Ministry of Health Conducts Workshop on WHO Growth Charts for Children.

Doha: The Ministry of Public Health, in partnership with the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office, recently organized a training workshop focused on WHO growth charts for children under the age of five. The workshop aimed to enhance the skills of medical staff across Qatar by providing both theoretical and practical training sessions. According to Qatar News Agency, the workshop was conducted by consultants from the WHO Regional Office and attended by participants from various public and private healthcare institutions in Qatar. This initiative is part of the Ministry's ongoing efforts to increase awareness regarding child health and growth assessments. By identifying growth issues such as stunting, overweight, and obesity early on, healthcare providers can ensure timely intervention and treatment. Furthermore, this workshop aligns with the "Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative," launched by WHO and UNICEF in 1991, which aims to protect and promote the health of pregnant women, new mothers, and their chil dren. The initiative underscores the importance of using standardized measurement methods in healthcare institutions to monitor growth, which is vital for assessing children's health, identifying potential risks, and guiding national health interventions. Early childhood is recognized as a crucial period for physical and cognitive development, making the monitoring of growth an essential aspect of healthcare. This workshop represents a significant step towards equipping healthcare professionals with the necessary tools and knowledge to support child health and development effectively.
