Doha: The Ministry of Justice and the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers celebrated the National Sports Day with a series of events held at the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST), which saw extensive participation from ministry staff, UDST employees, and their families.
According to Qatar News Agency, the event featured twelve sports activities, including walking, warm-up exercises, soccer, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, tug of war, foot bowling (kickball), trampolining, and target shooting. Activities for children were also organized to instill an early interest in sports and physical activity, which included jump rope, sack races, and face painting.
Concurrently, health awareness and educational activities were held, including an on-site health fair offering health guidance and biometric screenings to participants. This initiative aimed to promote health awareness among staff and their families and guide them toward healthier lifestyles, improving community safety and quality of life.
Friendly contests between participants from the Ministry and the General Secretariat concluded with the distribution of cups and medals to winners, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm. The Ministry emphasized the significance of this participation in fostering a healthy community and aligning with the objectives of Amiri Decision No. (80) of 2011, which endorses the nation's National Sports Day under the Sports Day Committee's standards.
The UDST activities were notable for their engagement and inclusivity across different age groups, emphasizing the adoption of physical activity as a sustainable healthy lifestyle. A walking contest organized by the Public Relations and Communications Department awarded prizes to 25 participants who achieved 10,000 steps during the morning.
HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali bin Issa Al Hassan Al Mohannadi highlighted that the celebration reflects the leadership's vision to integrate sports into community life to enhance physical and mental health. The Amiri Decision underscores the nation's focus on human development and Qatar's commitment to fostering a sport-supporting environment for all age groups, enhancing quality of life, and social cohesion.
HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice Saeed bin Abdullah Al Suwaidi reiterated the Ministry's dedication to promoting physical activity and health awareness among employees. He emphasized the Ministry's efforts to provide a motivating environment that encourages employees to adopt sports as a sustainable lifestyle, through organizing sporting events and supporting various health initiatives.
Assistant Undersecretary for State Litigation Affairs Jassim Saleh Al Kuwari noted that the diverse sports activities reflect the attention given to employees' interests and reinforce the importance of sports as a regular and ongoing activity. This interactive atmosphere strengthens social bonds among employees and their families, promoting health awareness and prevention.
Assistant Undersecretary for Shared Services Affairs Khamis Mohammed Al Buafrah Al Kuwari stated that the Ministry's commitment to organizing National Sports Day activities enhances employee performance, job satisfaction, teamwork, and collaboration. He expressed hope that the event would motivate continued participation in sports.
Assistant Undersecretary for Real Estate Registration and Authentication Affairs Amer Saeed Al Ghafri highlighted the role of sports in building a healthy society, with employees' participation raising awareness about physical activity's importance and reinforcing its role as a sustainable lifestyle.
Assistant Undersecretary for Legal Affairs Mubarak Saad Al Hajri emphasized the broad participation of Ministry employees in National Sports Day activities aligns with national goals of improving quality of life and encouraging healthy lifestyles. He praised the organizational efforts to engage employees in a sporting environment that renews energy and enthusiasm for continued activity throughout the year.
