Doha: The Ministry of Labour, represented by the Qualifying and Skills Development Department, today launched the "Maharat 2026" Summer Training Programme in cooperation with a number of private sector partners.

According to Qatar News Agency, the programme is one of the Ministry's human capital development initiatives and is specifically designed for Qatari secondary and university students, as well as children of Qatari women, who have registered through the Ministry's website. It is part of the Ministry's efforts to implement the Nationalisation Plan for Jobs in the Private Sector, known as "Empowering Qatar."

The programme offers training opportunities for Qataris and children of Qatari women across several key economic sectors, including financial services, logistics, manufacturing, construction, education, tourism, food and agriculture, information technology and digital services, and healthcare. It is structured to broaden participants' practical experience and enhance their professional and career readiness.

The initiative seeks to develop students' practical skills, equip them with valuable experience, and prepare them for entry into the labour market. Participants are introduced to the nature of professions and careers across various economic sectors, enabling them to assess how well their skills and abilities align with the requirements of these professions.

This approach supports informed academic and career planning, helping participants make well-informed decisions regarding their future career paths.

The "Maharat 2026" Summer Training Programme underscores the Ministry of Labour's commitment to strengthening partnerships with private sector partners to develop a new generation of qualified national talent capable of supporting the country's development journey and enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy.

By providing practical training environments aligned with labour market needs, the programme also promotes a culture of work and productivity while instilling values of responsibility and commitment among students.
