Lusail: The Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Public Cleanliness Department in cooperation with Qatari Diar, organized a Public Cleanliness march in Lusail Boulevard under the slogan "One March... A Cleaner City." The event was patronized by HE Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah and saw participation from officials across various government and private sectors.
According to Qatar News Agency, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Services Affairs Eng. Abdullah Ahmed Al Karani highlighted the march's purpose of acknowledging the significant contributions of sanitation workers. He emphasized the event's role in maintaining public health and enhancing Qatar's urban landscape. The initiative aimed to show support and gratitude towards sanitation workers and encourage public cooperation to ease their tasks.
Eng. Al Karani explained that the event demonstrated the value of partnerships among government bodies, community organizations, and the private sector, which collectively strengthen efforts in the sanitation sector. He also noted the ministry's advancements, such as introducing smart vehicles with sensors to optimize waste management, particularly on beaches, and the ongoing smart cities solutions project.
Director of the Public Cleanliness Department Muqbil Madhour Al Shammari stated that the march builds on the success of its previous edition with improved coordination with partners like Qatari Diar. He emphasized promoting public cleanliness as a shared societal responsibility and a national value tied to quality of life and urban sustainability.
Al Shammari further described the event as a national awareness platform that unites diverse sectors to highlight the role of individuals in maintaining environmental cleanliness. Activities included informational booths, competitions, and family-friendly interactive sessions, all designed to promote positive environmental behaviors.
Head of the Awareness and Education Section, Hamad Hassan Al Tamimi, remarked that the event in Lusail took on a lively, carnival-like ambiance aimed at integrating environmental awareness with entertainment. The event attracted around 600 workers and 32 specialized vehicles, showcasing cooperation between government and private entities.
Overall, the annual march in Lusail Boulevard serves as a powerful national message supporting Qatar's vision for environmental and human development, reflecting the Ministry's commitment to building a smart and sustainable city.
