Doha: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI), in collaboration with Qatar Development Bank (QDB), the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC), and the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), organized an event focusing on Gulf workshops related to digital transformation in factories.

According to Qatar News Agency, the event welcomed official delegations from public entities concerned with industry and digital transformation across the GCC states. High-ranking officials from relevant agencies and representatives of the industrial sector were also in attendance. The ministry stated that the event was part of its ongoing efforts to support digital transformation in the industrial sector. The aim was to enhance factories' readiness to adopt fourth industrial revolution technologies, upgrade production efficiency, optimize product quality, and enhance competitiveness.

Spanning two days, the event sought to support the establishment of the GCC Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Qatar. The goal is to position the center as a regional hub for boosting digital industry, sharing Gulf expertise, and promoting Qatari support for small and medium-sized enterprises transitioning toward smart industry. The event also aimed to strengthen Gulf cooperation, share knowledge among GCC member states, and develop policies and practices around digital transformation and advanced technologies.

The event featured a workshop on operational excellence and digital transformation methodologies, including field visits for Gulf delegations to the Small and Medium Industries Zone to explore practical experiences with modern technologies. The agenda also included workshops and panel discussions on spearheading digital transformation, challenges faced by small and medium enterprises, and inspiring success stories.

A strategic session convened during the event focused on establishing the GCC Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It reviewed current statuses and future trends, supplemented by a brainstorming session on enhancing Gulf integration in the industrial field. Key discussions included building an integrated Gulf system for technological and consultative service providers, spreading digital industry culture awareness, data governance, protection, and coordination opportunities in regulatory frameworks and standards.

The workshops concluded by emphasizing the critical role of digital transformation in boosting productivity and increasing national industries' competitiveness to achieve sustainable industrial growth.
