MOCI Imposes Final Anti-Dumping Duties on Imported Electric Batteries

Doha: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) has announced the imposition of final anti-dumping duties on imports of electric batteries originating in or exported from the People's Republic of China and Malaysia under Decision No. 48 of 2026.

According to Qatar News Agency, the ministry made this announcement in a post on X on Thursday. The decision is aimed at addressing dumping practices affecting the State's imports of electric accumulators covered by the decision. It also seeks to support the competitiveness of national products and combat harmful practices impacting them in international trade. Furthermore, the decision implements measures approved by the Industrial Cooperation Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council regarding the imposition of final anti-dumping duties on the covered imports.

The ministry stated that the decision applies to products classified under tariff heading 8507 and Harmonized System code 85071000 of the GCC Common Customs Tariff. The duty rates were determined according to the dumping margin for each producer or exporter in China and Malaysia. These duties range from 25.8 percent to 74 percent on imports from China and from 43.2 percent to 77 percent on imports from Malaysia.
