Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) on Saturday launched awareness-raising and cultural booklets to support Qatari environment during its participation in 32nd DIBF (DIBF) being held under the slogan 'With Reading We Rise' at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC).
The four booklets included methods of conserving wild environment, introducing drought causes and problems, raising awareness of most crucial methods of waste recycling and discussing Qatar's efforts dedicated to conserving environment and identifying the most critical types of pollution.
Environmental expert and engineering advisor at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Dr. Mohammed Saif Al Kuwari said over 500 copies have been printed and currently being showcased at MoECC's pavilion at DIBF, pointing out that work is ongoing to print other new copies.
He said MoECC will distribute a number of those releases to schools and youth centers, in pursuit of raising environmental awareness among local community, outlining that for the first time such booklets introduce all community's individuals to their most important duties and obligations towards the conservation of environment and its biodiversity.
He added that the first release focuses on Qatari wildlife and contains a plethora of tips on methods of conserving wild environment, including trees, shrubs and rare local plants that must be preserved and maintain their propagation. it also introduces the most important local endangered trees and plants and natural reserves in Qatar.
The second release focuses on local waste and methods of recycling, as the booklet introduces the community to waste types, whether they are plastic, metal, or glass, including food waste, Al Kuwari said, adding that the booklet contains the most vital methods of capitalizing on these waste and recycling to reduce family expenditure and support its economic side.
The third release discusses Qatar's efforts in conserving the environment and provides a holistic vision to readers on the most important sources of pollution that should be avoided through daily life practices to preserve public health of all Qatar population and help all people forswear a behavior that could damage local environment since it could be a source of pollution, he outlined.
Al Kuwari added that the fourth release offers a comprehensive vision on drought, in terms of its causes and risks on global environment, along with their implications on human and land resources, highlighting the consequences and implications of climate change and rise of temperature.
He emphasized that the booklet supports DECC's climate vision, along with citizens' engagement in addressing and identifying problems of local environment.
