MOEHE Celebrates Talented Students with Disabilities at Annual Competition

Doha: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) honored the winners of the 7th edition of the "My Disability is the Secret of My Talent" competition, which was held this year under the theme of sustainability. The event coincided with the launch of the Ministry's Education Strategy 2024-2030, under the slogan "Igniting the Flame of Learning," aiming to foster a comprehensive education system that encourages creativity and innovation for future professional success.

According to Qatar News Agency, HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi and Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs Maha Zayed Al Ruwaili recognized 30 male and female students with disabilities. These students were acknowledged for their outstanding achievements in various fields, including the Holy Quran, short stories, public speaking, and artistic creativity such as drawing, handicrafts, and photography.

In her remarks, Director of the Special Education and Inclusive Education Department at MOEHE Fatima Al Saadi congratulated the winners and acknowledged the vital role of their parents and guardians in nurturing and supporting their talents. She expressed her hopes for the students' continued success and recognition on a global scale. Al Saadi emphasized that MOEHE is committed to providing students with disabilities equal opportunities to display their talents and creativity.

She further noted that the Ministry has implemented integrated educational programs for students with disabilities in public schools in recent years, achieving significant improvements in the quality of educational services to align with regional and international standards.

The "My Disability is the Secret of My Talent" competition was first introduced during the 2018-2019 academic year. Due to its notable success, it has become an annual event organized by the Ministry, coinciding with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3. This initiative celebrates and acknowledges the active role and valuable contributions of persons with disabilities to society.
