Manama, Within the framework of the existing cooperation with the World Bank, the Ministry of Finance and National Economy hosted today a seminar presented by the World Bank. The seminar reviewed the results of the latest economic developments report for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The report included a chapter on improving the quality of education to promote the growth and economic prosperity of GCC member states. The seminar started with remarks from Safaa El Tayeb El Kogali is the World Bank's Country Director for the GCC, followed by Eman Jawad Alasfoor, the Assistant Undersecretary for Economic Affairs in which she highlighted the importance of developing and promoting factors that stimulate economic growth, including investment in human capital through its most important pillar, which are education. Economists of the World Bank, Khaled Al Hamoud and Mahmoud Al Sayed, gave a presentation outlining key findings of the report. The seminar also included a discussion session in which, D r. Mariam Hassan Al Sayed Mustafa as Chief Executive Officer of the Education and Training Quality Authority (BQA), and Harry Patrinos, Senior Advisor at the World Bank, participated. The Ministry of Finance and National Economy emphasised the role of these seminars in transfer of knowledge, exchanging international experiences, and reviewing developments at the regional and international economic level.
