Doha: The Ministry of Labor (MoL), in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE), announced Sunday the launch of screening interviews for the Government Scholarship Program for the Private Sector.
According to Qatar News Agency, the interviews mark the first phase of this strategic initiative, which involves partnerships with entities such as Qatar Investment Authority, Sidra Medicine, Qatar National Bank, and Es'hailSat. The initiative includes several stages and involves various private sector partners participating in the program.
The initiative is designed to enhance collaboration between the Ministry of Labor, MoEHE, and the private sector. It aims to support the country's strategy of sending national talents to this crucial sector for the first time.
This program provides Qatari citizens with tools and opportunities to enhance their skills, enabling them to contribute to the national economy's growth. It aligns with the Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030, aiming to build a society capable of innovation and entrepreneurship.
The scholarship program targets two main groups: students applying for government scholarships in the private sector and initially nominated scholarship recipients. These candidates undergo rigorous assessment interviews to ensure their qualifications and capabilities meet the requirements of the beneficiary employers, aligning educational outcomes with labor market needs.
The first phase involves Qatari students selected based on strict criteria ensuring academic excellence and professional readiness. The Qatar Investment Authority conducts direct interviews with nominated students to assess their preparedness for work in investment and financial institutions.
Upon passing the interviews, candidates proceed with signing the scholarship contract, beginning an academic and professional journey tailored to private sector needs. This ensures mutual commitment between scholarship students and the program's beneficiary entities.
This initiative is part of efforts by the Ministry of Labor, MoEHE, and partners in both public and private sectors. It represents a unique effort to activate scholarships as a strategic tool to qualify Qatari cadres, supporting the localization plan by building a highly skilled national workforce prepared for the private sector labor market.
The Government Scholarship Program for the Private Sector aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030, prioritizing human resource development. It empowers Qatari youth to pursue specialized fields in the private sector, such as financial services, IT and digital services, food and agriculture, education, healthcare, logistics, tourism, manufacturing industries, construction, and real estate.
This initiative marks a significant expansion of the government scholarship program to include private sector institutions, serving economic development goals and enhancing national cadres' participation in private sector institutions. It is part of the Ministry of Labor's efforts within the National Workforce Affairs Sector to activate the localization law and increase Qatari nationals' employment rates in this vital sector.
The successful partnership with entities like Qatar Investment Authority, Sidra Medicine, Qatar National Bank, and Es'hailSat reflects their commitment to providing practical training and professional development opportunities for scholarship recipients.
The initiative aims to prepare participants to join local and international investment, financial, and economic institutions, contributing to developing a new generation of competent Qatari leaders across strategic economic sectors. It supports efforts to increase the representation of Qatari nationals within the country's workforce.
