Doha: The General Assembly of the International Snooker Federation has elected Mubarak Al Khayarin, Executive Director of the Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation (QBSF), as President of the International Snooker Federation by acclamation for a third term, continuing until 2028. The election took place on the sidelines of the World Snooker Championship, hosted by the QBSF, and is set to run until November 9, featuring significant international participation. According to Qatar News Agency, the electoral process was conducted in the presence of 29 General Assembly members, in a transparent atmosphere that lasted several hours. The members demonstrated a strong interest in the federation's welfare and its development for the future. Al Khayarin's presidency marks the culmination of his dedicated efforts over the years to support the game at local, regional, and international levels. Al Khayarin was the sole candidate for the presidency, securing the role by acclamation as no other candidates entered the rac e by the time the General Assembly convened. This unanimous confidence solidifies his leadership and vision for the federation. The General Assembly also confirmed other leadership positions, with Jim Lacey from Ireland elected as Vice President, Michael Khoury from Syria as Secretary General, and Joseph Lu from Hong Kong as Treasurer, all by acclamation. Munther Al Basri, President of the Bahrain Billiards and Snooker Federation, was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors and representative of Asia. In its meeting, the General Assembly discussed various topics related to the sport's future and reviewed proposals, making important decisions accordingly. Al Khayarin expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him by the General Assembly, acknowledging it as a badge of honor and a testament to the success of his policies over the past years. He emphasized the support from the Qatar Olympic Committee, led by HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, and the Ministry of Sports and Youth, attributing his electoral success to Qatar's reputation for excellence in hosting global events. QBSF President Mohamed Al Ramzani celebrated the renewed confidence in Al Khayarin as a triumph for Qatar and the QBSF. Secretary General Mohammed Salim Al Nuaimi echoed this sentiment, highlighting the positive impact on Qatar and the broader Gulf and Arab regions. QBSF member Yaqoub Fakhro noted Al Khayarin's deserving victory, crediting his efforts to advance snooker globally and in Asia.
