Muscat Stock Exchange Gains Over OMR 444 Million in Weekly Surge

Muscat: The market capitalization of the Muscat Stock Exchange climbed to OMR 31.77 billion by the end of last week, marking a weekly gain of OMR 444.1 million.

According to Qatar News Agency, trading value rose to OMR 215.4 million, up 20.4 percent from the previous week's OMR 178.8 million. Executed transactions increased by 8.8 percent, reaching over 35,500 deals compared to 32,628 earlier.

The main index rebounded after a brief dip, driven by strong buying from local funds and institutions, while individual investors opted to sell and diversify portfolios amid high stock valuations. The index broke the 5,700-point barrier, closing at 5,723 points, up 179 points or 3.2 percent, with 46 stocks rising, 16 declining slightly, and 23 remaining unchanged.

Sector indices saw broad gains, led by the services sector, which rose 5 percent to 2,368 points. The financial sector added 102 points, the industrial sector gained 37 points, and the Sharia index climbed 16 points to 491.
