Spaniard Rafael Nadal qualified for the semi-finals of the Bastad Open Tennis Championship in Sweden, with his victory Friday over Argentine Mariano Navone 6-7, 7-5, 7-5in the quarter-finals. The Spaniard will play on Saturday with Croatian Duji Adkovic, who in turn won over Brazilian Thiago Monteiro 6- 2, 4-6 and 6-4/. This is the first time that Nadal,39 years old, has reached the semi-finals of a tennis tournament since the English Wimbledon Championship two years ago, as he is competing in the Bastad Championship for the first time since winning the title in 2005.
