Spanish veteran Rafael Nadal qualified for the second round of the Bastad Swedish Open Tennis Championship, after his victory Tuesday over Swede Leo Borg in the first round of the tournament. The Spanish player succeeded in winning 6-3 and 6-4, and is scheduled to meet in the second round with Britain's Cameron Norrie. The former world number one returned to the clay courts in the city of Bastad again for the first time in 19 years, where he had won the singles title in the tournament held in southern Sweden when he was 19 years old, in 2005, and he also succeeded yesterday in achieving the doubles title in the same tournament alongside his Norwegian partner Casper Ruud, where they won against the pair consisting of Guido Andreosti and Miguel Risvarella in two games. Nadel looks forward to continuing his achievements by winning the singles title to confirm his readiness to participate in the Paris Olympic 2024 . Nadal missed the Wimbledon Championship, the third major tennis tournament, as he refused to p articipate in the English Championship so as not to risk being injured again, as he suffered repeated injuries to the thigh and abdomen in recent seasons.
