Rabat, October 15 - Qatar's Nasser Al Attiyah won the second stage of the Morocco Desert Rally (Rallye du Maroc) in its 24th edition, the fifth and final round of the World Rally-Raid Championship (W2RC) for the 2023 season.
Al Attiyah with his French navigator Mathieu Beaumel, on board a Toyota Hilux, came in first place after covering the 296 km stage in Zagora in a time of 2.52.29 hours with a difference of 2.11 minutes from his closest competitor Carlos Sainz, while Sebastien Loeb came in third place, 2.30 minutes behind the leader.
Al Attiyah topped the overall standings of the rally with a total time of 6.08.01 hours, 5.31 minutes ahead of his closest competitor Saudi Arabia's Yazeed Al Rajhi, while Carlos Sainz came in third place, 6.06 minutes behind the leader.
The third stage of the Morocco Rally will be held on Monday, in Zagora with a distance of 336 km. The rally witnesses the participation of 247 vehicles, including 101 cars, 10 trucks,136 motorcycles and quads motorcycles.
