Doha: NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte affirmed that the alliance will continue working with Denmark and Greenland on Arctic security. Following a meeting with Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen and Greenland's Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeldt, Rutte said in a post on X platform: "We discussed how important the Arctic ' including Greenland ' is to our collective security and how Denmark is stepping up investments in key capabilities. We ll continue to work together as Allies on these important issues .
According to Qatar News Agency, this development comes amid US President Donald Trump's efforts to acquire Greenland, arguing that control of the island is essential for US security needs. This move has been strongly opposed by his European NATO allies, including Denmark.
