New French Interior Minister Seeks to Restore Security Dialogue with Algeria

Paris: New French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez announced on Sunday his country's desire to resume "dialogue" with Algeria, amid a diplomatic crisis that has persisted for over a year. Nunez emphasized the importance of re-establishing security relations and information exchange between the two nations.

According to Qatar News Agency, Nunez expressed concern over the current tension with Algeria, which has resulted in a halt in security cooperation. He underscored that this situation presents a significant challenge for an interior minister and highlighted the necessity for action to address the issue.

Nunez pointed out the need to renew the issuance of transit permits, although he noted that he had not yet reached out to his Algerian counterpart. The minister reiterated the importance of resuming dialogue on security matters to restore the bilateral relationship.
