New Israeli Airstrikes Target Southern Lebanon

Beirut: Israeli aircraft Wednesday launched a series of airstrikes targeting several areas in southern Lebanon. Field sources reported that the strikes hit the towns of Kafour, Jarjou', and Qannarit, in addition to the towns of Khraibeh and Ansar in the country's south.

According to Qatar News Agency, the airstrikes resulted in the deaths of two people. The strikes occurred despite a ceasefire agreement that came into effect on November 27, 2024, which stipulated the withdrawal of Israeli forces from border villages and towns in southern Lebanon within a 60-day period.

The Lebanese government had agreed to extend the deadline until last February 18. However, the Israeli army remains stationed at five points and continues its violations. Since last November, there have been more than 7,000 aerial breaches and over 2,400 military activities in the area of operations of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
