Doha: The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) is actively participating in the 34th edition of the Doha International Book Fair, themed "From Engraving to Writing," aiming to educate citizens and residents about their rights and responsibilities. According to Qatar News Agency, Sultan Hamad Al Hajri, Director of Public Relations and Media at the NHRC, emphasized the importance of the committee's annual involvement in this event. He noted that it provides a vital platform for spreading awareness and promoting a culture of human rights. NHRC's publications offer crucial information on rights and responsibilities across various societal segments. Al Hajri highlighted that the NHRC is utilizing its presence at the fair to connect with a wide audience, distribute publications, and offer legal support through specialized researchers. The committee's booth includes informative materials and encourages collaboration with ministries, institutions, and government bodies. A significant highlight this year is the r elease of the NHRC's third strategic plan (2024-2030), launched last November. The strategy outlines goals and initiatives focusing on protecting vulnerable groups and strengthening partnerships with civil society organizations. Additionally, the NHRC has published the second volume of "The Right to Food and Climate Challenges," addressing climate risks, emissions reduction, and sustainable development. This effort aligns with NHRC's national strategy, reinforcing its dedication to human rights protection in Qatar through education and cultural content. The NHRC's booth offers a variety of materials, including books, brochures, educational tools, artwork, children's stories, and legal publications, all available to visitors. It also features annual reports on human rights in Qatar and specialized materials for migrant workers in multiple languages, providing guidance on rights and complaint procedures.
