NHRC Inaugurates Human Rights Office at Hamad International Airport

The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) has inaugurated the human rights office at Hamad International Airport (HIA) in preparation for receiving FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 fans, and providing various human rights’ awareness services, due to HIA’s strategic importance, which is one of the most important international ports that receive visitors with different cultures from all countries of the world, and this step came to promote and protect the rights of the World Cup audience by spreading awareness and education of human rights and freedoms, consolidating international laws and treaties, and monitoring any practices that contradict the stipulated principles.

HE Mr. Sultan bin Hassan Al Jamali, Secretary-General of the National Human Rights Committee, stressed the importance of the Committee’s office, which occupies a distinguished location at HIA, to target the coming public and act as a preventive mechanism against any violations, and provide assistance related to human rights, if necessary, as well as raise awareness through the distribution of brochures prepared by the Committee for this occasion.

He pointed out that the committee during the last period has been training its staff and focused on “human rights at international airports”, and how to deal with the public coming from countries of the world with different nationalities, cultures, and beliefs, and work to contain these differences based on human rights principles and laws.
